A few days ago I went to visit the UK Construction Week at the NEC in Birmingham with University. While there I was able to learn about a range of different products from furniture, to building materials, to fabrics and finishes, lighting and innovative design. The show was a great opportunity to learn about different aspects of design that are critical to creating a good final product, as well as, being a good opportunity to network with people and to get to know more about the brand and product they represent. While there I also attended a few different talks/presentations from different companies and learning more about the industry and the way the design world is going and how design is used today. UK Construction Week was a great place to get lots of inspiration for lots of different aspects of design by looking at the way the different companies put different pieces together and what they pieces/colours they choose to put together. Also, their was a lot of innovative and new ways of design that I was not yet aware of so this was really interesting to see and learn about as it has given me a larger scope for my own designs and has broadened the designs I am able to create and also the way I design.
Being able to view and explore such a vast range of design disciplines, materials, products, new innovative way of design and so much more all in one place was a brilliant experience and also a very useful one. UK Construction Week opened my eyes to such a wide range of products and ideas that beforehand I had never even seen or heard of, which allowed me to take away new knowledge from this event to I can apply to my own work in the future and will hopefully better my designs as I now know and understand more about different areas of design, how different materials and products can used, and also what is up and coming in the world of design.
