For my Design and Materials module I had to design a structure that provided seating, shelter and lookout points which would bring visitors closer to nature and provide opportunities to experience the wildlife. The inspiration for my design all came from the photographic survey I took of the location in which this structure would be placed which was 'The Hive' in Salford. Due to this module being based around nature and bringing people and nature together I decided to look at using materials that blended in with the surroundings and that were eco friendly. To research, design and finalise my design proposal I produced a presentation about one specific chosen material, a sketchbook containing research, sketch ideas and detailed design development. Alongside this I also create some moquettes of my two main ideas, technical drawings, a model of my final idea at a scale of 1:50, a client presentation board and a rationale explaining my design and reasoning for the materials I had chosen to use.
